The newly discovered Comet, NEOWISE has been on full display this week on the shores of Beaver Island.
Appearing after sunset and on display for most of the night in the NNW skies over Donegal Bay, the comet becomes visible again in the morning in the
NNE sky an hour or so before sunrise. In the darkening evening skies, after sunset on the west side of the island, facing North, one can see the tiny streak with the naked eye. It is better to view with binoculars or telescope to get the full impact of this brightly-lit, twin tailed comet, discovered in March of 2020.
Stunning photos have come in from all parts of Northern Michigan and the world as the comet stays for a few weeks before disappearing in an orbit that takes 6800 years. You won't see it again unless you are re-incarnated!
